Donna Lorraine Zwald, 83, of Yuba City passed away October 23, 2018 in Marysville. She was born on April 30, 1935 to Ethan and Ethel Hinkle.
In 1952, Donna modeled and won a Beauty Contest. She married Joseph Zwald in Reno, Nevada on April 30, 1955. After living in Red Bluff and marrying, they decided to move to Woodland, CA. After living there for some time, they later moved to Yuba City in 1963 where they resided for over 50 years. In 1966, they had their son, Jeff Zwald.
Donna retired from AT&T in 1974 and later became the CEO and Director for the American Red Cross. She was in charge of four counties; Sutter, Yuba, Butte, Glenn. In 1997, Donna coordinated the third largest flood evacuation in California. She had a wonderful disaster team that made over $1 Million in Donations within just one year. She enjoyed painting, golfing, traveling all over the world, spending time with her cat Bogie, and spending quality time with her family and close friends. She will be missed by all.
Donna is survived by her son Jeffrey (Kathy) Zwald of Yuba City, Step-Grandchildren; Paul Page, David Page both of New York, Bryan Hess-Page, James Robert Tapp, Steven Tapp all of Yuba City, and several Step- Great-Grandchildren as well as nephews, nieces, and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband Joseph Zwald, her parents, and brothers; Woody Hinkle, and James Hinkle
A graveside service will be held on Friday, November 2, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the Colusa Cemetery 1974 Wilson Avenue, Colusa, CA 95932.
