Thomas Robert Critchfield
July 19, 1948 – February 13, 2018
On the morning of February 13th, Tom passed away at his home in Colusa, CA after his battle with lung cancer. He had his children at his side when passing at the age of 69.
Tom was born in Woodland, CA on July 19, 1948. He was the second child born to Jack and Kathryn Critchfield. He grew up and lived his life in Colusa, CA.
He graduated from Colusa High School in 1966. After high school, he attended Yuba College and graduated with an Associates Degree. While attending college, he began his career with the US Postal Service. Over his 41 years of service, he was the Postmaster of Meridian, Arbuckle, Live Oak, and Colusa. He retired as the Colusa Postmaster in 2006. After retirement, Tom worked for the Yolo County District Attorneys office as a process server.
Tom was also a member of many organizations including, Meridian Lions Club, Arbuckle Lions Club, Board of Directors for Live Oak Chamber of Commerce, Board of Directors for Colusa Chamber of Commerce, and most currently was a member of the Board of Directors of the Colusa Mosquito Abatement District.
Tom enjoyed golfing, camping and fishing in rivers and lakes all over Northern California. You could find him on the Arbuckle Golf Course every Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Kathryn Critchfield of Colusa. Tom is survived by his daughter Molly Critchfield of Colusa; his son Jeff Critchfield of Colusa; his sister, Bonnie (Zane) Marshall of Yuba City, CA; his grandchildren, Thomas and Mia Critchfield of Colusa and his significant other, Peggy Chissie of Yuba City.
There will be a Celebration of Life for Tom on February 27th from 12pm-4pm at the Arbuckle Golf Club.
The family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support that we have received. Also, a special thank you for the tremendous care that was given from UC Davis Medical Center.
